Yes, yes I know. I’ve had the word “Zombies” in my blog header for 9 months and not a post, not a word, not even the merest hint of a tag pertaining to Zombies or Zombie-related topics has fallen off my keyboard.
That is about to change.
Inspired my my son’s quest to see a Zombie film from every country on earth I thought I’d document his progress here and add my views on all the films, drawing whatever conclusions I can about the general state of a nation’s society and culture based on the Zombie films they produce. Just quietly I think Italy is screwed. (See “Eaters“)
America leads the way in quantity, quality, variety and sheer inventiveness. The good ole US of A sprays its product across all points on the Zombie-quality spectrum. From the masterpiece “Dawn of The Dead” all the way down to the cinematic excrement that is “House of the Dead“.
In Zombies, as in all things, America has the best and the worst in the world. And what of countries that have no Zombie industry to speak of. Is there a correlation between per Capita GDP and Zombie movie output. Probably. And does it matter if the Zombies are sheep? (I’m looking at you New Zealand)
So stay tuned for a few Zombie movie reviews coupled with some highly dubious pieces of analysis.
